The Cornet Illustration

Find below the 3-panel illustration that Monsieur Cornet gave to my mother just prior to her returning to the US in August 1945, after staying in their apartment in Paris for the better part of six months. The original size of the piece is 11.7″ x 5.8″.

As the blog post highlights, the first panel shows him sitting by the radio looking rather glum and resigned [re: life before Gabrielle moved in]. The second panel shows a stylish woman bearing cigarettes, and other little goodies [re: Gabrielle moves in bearing gifts]. The final panel shows M. Cornet smoking cigarettes, the radio is rocking and he’s smiling. Life is good, once again.
